Depending on how you look at it, I suppose its open for interpretation. When I was a little girl my mother would saddle me with a lot of butterfly stuff and I think I resented it because it felt dainty. I was the kind of little girl who took "reptiles and amphibians" as an extracurricular. Snakes didn't scare me, I like all animals. Somehow butterflies didn't seem cool enough though. At my elementary school they had a lot of dusty moths that we would catch in cupped palms and some cruel kids would rip their wings off. In some odd mandela affect I cannot remember if there was asclepius - butterfly bush there. My memory wanted to say there were swarms of monarchs, but I don't think that's accurate. And memory is so fickle.... Is the butterfly transformation? I believe metamorphosis is an angle with many perterbations. I no longer see the butterfly as such an innocent or girly symbol, nor do I reject it when it finds me. In another sense, my pursuit of psychology seems contained in the brilliant stained wings of the graceful insect. And then we have moths...darker, night flitters, drawn to flame. There is a place for the moth in my interest and eye as well. But its meaning, is perhaps more unclear. Shrouded in the dark, like the thing itself.

The ratio in the species is 10% Butterfly and 90% moth. It would seem conditions favour the moth.

Indeed. Moths are more common. But you can't fault them for that. They have a peculiar sort of grace. What is the moth? Intuition, instinct, and the inner eye. Just a guess though...

A black-white and large butterfly flying through flowers & plants, but without flipping its wings. As if its own time field froze but the outermost field of it continue to navigate outside environments. Idk this might sounds... /shrug trying to express an old imagination I have of it.

Here's a confession! When I was little (around 5 or 6), I distinctly remember being afraid of butterflies This thread also reminds me of one of my favourite bits of writing someone sent me: To the one known as Zimmer888 Know that society is divided Between the Butterfly and the Moth The Butterfly is Lithe But its wings are large The moth is Stout, Strong But its wings are slightly Smaller than the Butterfly The letter M is "mmmmmmmm" It is to hide something. The letter B is "beeeeeee" To reveal everything hidden This is the duality of this Current Universe, the moth and the butterfly. Nothing is hidden, except the exact turn of events that will lead to the next Universe

Dynamic chaos. Oh I forgot about that one. The butterfly represents the impact of tiny systems when they scale to interact with much larger and more intricate macrocosms

Butterflies have actually been oddly present in my life, my late mother even left me a painting that has a butterfly theme (it was some art that she acquired solely because her sister always loved butterflies). I might as well post the rest of the prose that came after that quote: Become Gods greater than your Gods Praise be to God Praise be to All Godspeed God Bless Bless yourself Create yourself Our job is done Your job is starting How does one unite self and Time? One must become patient until the end of Time Patience is all. Patience is God. Universes are born from patience. There are only 2 states of a Universe In Creation, or Birth B C B C There have been infinite Universes. Right now we are in a state of "CREATION" of a new Universe. This is the one which the Human Beings are figuring out. It is a very long journey. Sit back and enjoy your own Creation. The Transcendent Authority of the Elohim is felt through the words in any language We do not need to prove ourselves For we ourselves are in everything Everything you see is proof that there is a designer We created everything in nature. Human Beings will recreate themselves to become One with Nature. So it shall be. So it is now. We do not need credit. We do not need worship. We are what we are. You are what you are. Your own will is your own. There is nothing else we can do about it.

Fark butterflies, the second I knew they were the same as moths they lost all appeal to me. Of course I rebound and still find them beautifull, but their magic just vanished on that faithfull day in my childhood.

I'm not sure about the scientific definitions, but to me they are the same thing dressed in different clothes. Even their motivation (Moth to a flame/ Butterfly to a blossom) seems to have the same underlying theme to it. At least that is my opinion on the matter. ^__^

Well eh, not to the same extent - they are both insects after all (maybe you just don't hear about butterflies being drawn to flames as much because there are no candles in the daytime). But moths are nighttime, enigma, dusty, moon, dark - butterflies are day, flower, sun, bright, clear.
