Oh gosh don't get me started on food Tip 1 for grocery store: Do most of your shopping in the outer perimeter. It's the foods in the middle shelves that are the worst for you/most processed. Fresh ingredients and produce are usually found around the outer aisles.

I have another sad word of advice. The regulations on organic foods aren't so strict as many people think. Also a lot of farmers cut corners with it or skimp on requirements in order to get a stamp on their food that allows it to sell for more. It's similar with 'cage free' eggs and meat. I'm not saying it's a waste of your time to buy that kind of stuff, just that it is VERY loosely enforced, and if you really want to be certain you are getting that kind of quality from your produce, (I'm too broke to be that picky, but I'm assuming not everyone shares my financial status), you should go to your local farmers market (probably easier for us californians).
It does really help to support your local farmers too
