I know we're all GLP immigrants on this site, but lately somewhere I've been spending a lot of time is 4chan. They have an interesting subculture there that appeals to the psychologist in me, but also they like weeb shit like pokemon and vidya so there's that. I find 4chan entertaining because they are both elitist and hive-mind orientated, without really the selfawareness of the way the culture of anonymity there affects the 'voice' of the group. But I legitimately think many there are quite clever. And their opinions are funny. The impression I have always had of the site - beyond reading a book about how it originated the huge group anonymous and how it's the center of the memeverse and the asshole of online, is that it's a young adult or older teen collective who tend to have nerdy and excessive knowledge and pretension while lacking wisdom. Anyway, millions of people go there so it's tough to generalize, but you also have this singular 'unified' voice - no avatars, no names - that possesses the egregore of 4chan so that each board has a unique sort of 'spirit' or 'voice' you can discern over time. Anyway, here is something that made me laugh and is one of the examples of why I like 4chan. Spy agency whistle-blower posts top secret report to 4chan but users dismiss it as 'fake and gay'

Here's an "FBI Analyst" Insider Transcript pertaining to the clinton case. Real? IDK. Though maybe it will be evident in retrospect now that the leaks have been released. This was also a 4chan original. www.rumormillnews.com/cgi-bin/forum.cgi?read=50818

Hehe gladly.
It was a time where I refined my internet-trolling. A time of luscious threads full of win, where an hero still was someone to be praised. An era where moot wasn't the complete dickweed he became, where loli-threads stayed pinned for over an hour because the mods where asleep. When V-Tech just kicked in yo shit became real. Fake pipe-bombs and cat-crush pictures were had on a daily basis. Where GETS actually have not been bullshit modgets. Yotsuba wasn't some otaku-crush but a bonafide internet-celebrity. The raidboard and gold-accounts had the bees more confuziused than the triforce. Ahh I could go on, but I'm starting to cringe myself. xD

so there's a pokemon showdown thread on 4chan's pokemon subreddit, /vp/, where I go a lot, called 'showderp' (for example, current showderp thread: boards.4chan.org/vp/thread/28284206#p28293319, there is always one going) people suggest meme teams and somebody from the thread takes it to pokemon showdown to play Well, I am a total newbie and didn't realize what the rule was, I wanted to test out tripcodes because I'd never used one, not realizing on the thread that whoever uses the tripcode has to be champ... so, I used one (ice cream kidz) not realizing I was supposed to play after that and post a link to the match lol.... omg I feel so dumb
