Well...have you considered that you are a conduit for the divine, not the divine itself? Power is something that you channel, and it only sustains you so long as you are a suitable vessel for it. Part of power comes from humility. If you lose humility, that is service to something higher than one's own self, then sometimes power can destroy its wielder. Pride is, something self-corrosive. The only way to avoid being corrupted over the long term with power, is to be humble. And to be humble, you must recognize that which is greater then yourself.

There is more to power than the ability to control aspects of this material universe. There is power that is granted by God, it is spiritual and it comes from those who are worthy, whose hearts are pure. Money is paper, that people agree to social dictum to be worth commodities for trade and exchange. Government is enforced by our acceptance of those who enforce the government and the people's participation in the rules of our civilization. This is what we call social contract. We exchange certain freedoms for protections. But the artifacts of society have no concrete reality in and of themselves. They are purely conceptual and they exist in what seems like reality because we agree collectively to maintain the illusion of their value. Does that mean things like money and social status which society values are real in a meaningful way and worth expending emotionally energy pining for? No. They are transitory and only apparently valuable. Many in vain waste our short lives chasing emphemeral and worthless tokens. We have as humans the perfect facilities for understanding the divine and natural forms of the world, and if we don't take advantage seeking things with real worth, that is a waste of the oppertunity to be human. Those things can't be forced on anybody, they have to be chosen. But I like to believe that is what God is looking at. Not how much money we have or our twitter followers (duh). |
