I want to tell you guys why I choose "a keyblade master" as my custom title. I know I have spoken once or twice I affliate powerfully with the story and symbolism of kingdom hearts. In this game, sora is chosen as the weilder of a weapon which can open the door between worlds. It is called the keyblade. The keyblade is a special weapon that chooses its master. That is only the worthy are chosen.
Keys are obvious very symbolic, as are gateways. The keyblade master has the ability to open the door to the unknown. It is not that the person who weilds it is complete, only that they have the potential, and the destiny. There is not just one keyblade master we find out as the series proceeds. It is an elect group, that come to be known, or came to be known as the keyblade masters. It is also not only a weapon for the pure of heart. But the dark weilders in clashing with their counterparts help complete the saga of worlds.
I had a dream I was a keyblade master a week or two ago. It stuck out in my mind. I felt connected to this vision and a longing, but wistfulness and I knew it was just a heart's desire.
A couple days ago, a friend/coworker of mine returned from little Tokyo with a gift for me. I opened the door to see him standing there with a plastic wrapped keyblade. He tosses it to me, "here". It's a foam replica, the perfect weight and size for me. You know the power of ritual totems? This was not a custom made hundred dollar item. It was not the first or last of its kind. But in that act of bringing me the totem from my dream, he had manifested it, without knowing of its symbolic value to me at all. This keyblade I acquired is overflowing with a quality I cannot quite describe, but the sentiment hit me quite hard.
It was not that I had went out and bought myself a keyblade, for that would not mean anything. What made it incredible, and powerful, was that I was given the Keyblade. And that which is given by another, of their own free will and intuition, is an act of great meaning and power.
It is because my dream was given to me, innocent of my wish, manifested for me, arriving at my door, handed to me - it is for that reason and that reason alone, I feel fit to call myself among they whom weild the keyblade. The title - master of the keyblade - is not meant to denote the pinnacle of ability. The master is one who posses and owns by right. The right cannot be seized by the worthy, only given.
