Plenty of great people pursued their great work genuinely and used their job as a sideline to support their true passion. Einstein worked in a patent office. Timothy Leary dropped out of Harvard to pursue his studies of the spiritual world through psychedelics. I that people disparage others because they are trapped in the confines of seeing only what society values rather then what is truly uniquely gifted about an individual. That they fail to see that is why they fail to achieve greatness themselves. Because they are chasing social status like money and an 'esteemed' career. Well, the people who change the world, have to struggle against the expectations of their peers, people who look down upon them, listening to their own heart. And when they do get there, because they followed their own passions, even though nobody eye believed in them, everybody forgets how hard it was that they struggled to get there, where nobody believed they were worth anything at all. Great people are outliers, and others often don't see what they are doing until long after it is done. They march to the beat of their own drum. They see beyond the day to day illusion most are so caught up in occupying and mistake for real. They simply don't have the vision... I have always believed in my destiny. Many great people had this struggle. I won't be the first, nor the last. |
